"A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All!"
    9 p.m. Sunday, Comedy Central
Tune in or out? out of 4.

Leave it to Stephen Colbert to make Christmas all about … Stephen Colbert.

The self-loving host of fake news show “The Colbert Report” pays homage to—OK, parodies—the corny Christmas specials of Perry Como and Bing Crosby with this new musical special.

But don’t think it’s going to go over well with the parents.

“I’m broadcasting legend Stephen Colbert,” the cardigan-clad funnyman says, “I’m so excited right now, I’m sporting a yule log.”

Yes, this is definitely a special for Colbert fans who are used to his biting wit and boastful attitude.

Colbert, trapped in his cabin by a bear, is visited by a jolly bunch of celebrity guests who offer up tunes that send up they’re public personas, including John Legend, Feist, Elvis Costello, Toby Keith, Willie Nelson, and even Jon Stewart (see below).

Most of the holiday tunes they sing would turn Granny’s face red, which only means that they are not to be missed. They’re hilarious:

  • Toby Keith sings “Have I Got A Present For You,” in which he takes on the war on Christmas with such stirring lines as “Separate church and state, that’s what some liberal said / maybe it’s time we separated him from his head;”
  • Willie Nelson tells Colbert, “I’m so high you’re hallucinating,” before he sings “The Little Dealer Boy;”
  • Feist, as an angelic “authorized prayer technician,” sings “Please be patient, an angel will be with thee shortly,” and
  • John Legend croons a sexy ballad to nutmeg with several saucy lines, including “I want to nog your egg.”

While the “Isn’t this awkward, we’re under the mistletoe” joke gets old, Colbert’s holiday gift to fans is more fun than a visit from Santa.

    GET IT ON DVD
Colbert promotes the $19.99 DVD version of his special—on sale Tuesday—during the show. Extras include a fireplace video with burning books and a 25 Days of Colbert calendar. Some of the proceeds from sales of the DVD, album and single will go to the charity Feeding America.
