Chicago resident Karli tells her story of survival on Monday's Season 2 premiere of "I Survived" on Bio. Watch the trailer here.
I SURVIVED
8 p.m. Mondays, Bio
Tune in or out?
out of 4.
A Chicago-area survivor opens the new season of “I Survived,” Bio’s compelling interview series.
In March 2006, three men attacked Karli in the parking garage of her South Loop apartment building, throwing battery acid on her and stuffing her into the trunk of her own car.
“I thought they were going to kill me,” Karli, camera closely focused on her face, says. “I thought that it was over for me.”
Karli’s harrowing experience is included as one of three stories that recount incredible true events of survival. There are no cheesy reenactments, thankfully. The camera focuses firmly on the person being interviewed, breaking away only occasionally for shots that reflect where the action took place—a parking garage, for example.
Despite the lack of action, it’s difficult to stop watching.
Karli, the daughter of a Chicago police officer who had died a year before she was attacked, heard her mom’s voice tell her she must escape from the trunk.
“She said, ‘You better fight, you better get out of here,’” Karli says.
Karli got away from the men, but it was only the beginning of her nightmare, she says. She was attacked again in May 2006 in a related incident.
Karli tells her story at 8 p.m. Monday on Bio’s “I Survived.”

I feel so bad for Karli. I know I can't judge what she did because I don't know what I would do in that type of situation but, why didn't she run to her cousins apt. instead of running toward her car when the two girls were standing a distance from her? I mean she ran to the apartment after she was assaulted with the acid. Maybe she could of made it to a least the front of her cousins building and screamed "HELP" or "FIRE" and someone may have heard her and called 911. I would love to know the answer to my question. So if I can get a reply from Karli herself it would greatly appricated. Again I sympathize with her and hope shes doing o.k. Oh by the way she should go to Taser international's website and order her self a taser. There the same kind the police use but, they don't sell to you if you live in Chicago. So if you moved back to Chicago use your Dads address. I feel so safe with mine I have it in my hand ready to use any time I go to my car!! The metal prongs can go through 2 inches of clothing and will put someone to the ground instantly and keep them down for at least 5 to 7 minutes. Also, once you shoot the cartrage the taser itself can be put on a persons body and electricude them, and it has a laser pointer on it so you can't miss when you shoot it. It is legal to carry out in the open . It won't kill anyone so if a child were to get a hold of it you don't have to worry, the worst that would happen is they would get quite shocked! But alive! I also live in a suburb of chicago. Hope you take my taser advice. I sound like I work for the company.HAHA. Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope you respond!!!! Sincerely, Tiffany Williams

Posted by: Tiffany Williams | Dec 1, 2008 10:29:27 PMI think she is so brave to fight off her attackers and keep trying although being out numbered. She is so beautiful, inside and out, and her beauty really shows through those scars. I hope life holds nothing but happiness for the rest of her life.

Posted by: KathyDV | Dec 2, 2008 8:56:23 PMMy heart just fills with joy just knowing what GOD can do. Hold your head up and keep trucking forward with your life because GOD does not like ugly and those men who did this horrible act to you, will pay dearly. May GOD continue to bless you and you are in my prayers.

Posted by: Tamika Mack-Perry | Dec 7, 2008 11:13:34 AMIt is so horrid what that poor girl had to go thru! I think she is couragous and tough, and even with those scars, I think she is a stunningly beautiful woman! If I swung that way, I'd ask her out! She is just gorgeous, brave, and classy! She seems like an amazing person to know.
Heidi Stinson, (I'm on myspace if she might ever want to chat sometime)
