    LITTLE BRITAIN USA
    9:30 p.m. Sunday HBO

The scoop: Matt Lucas and David Walliams bring their sketch comedy show to the U.S. with the same silliness that made them a hit in Britain.

What works: The duo’s best characters make the trip, too, including not-so-ambiguously gay British Prime Minister Sebastian Love, who falls for the U.S. president. The highlight of the premiere is weight-loss coach Marjorie Dawes abusing class guest Rosie O’Donnell. “Are you fat because you’re a Lesbian or are you a Lesbian because you’re fat,” Marjorie asks a flabbergasted O’Donnell before Marjorie offends her entire class.

Funny new characters include two macho gym pals who prance around nude and shave where the other can’t reach. Yes, the humor is gross, scatological and insensitive—but so funny.

What doesn’t: There are slow spots in the series, and some sketches that don’t work as well—Harvey, a man who still wants his mother’s “bitty” and Carol Beer, a rude hospital receptionist—return in future episodes.

Tune in or out? out of 4. The side-splitting sketches—juvenile deliquent Vicky Pollard included—outweigh the stinkers.
