NBC packing Fall TV sneak peek into half hour special

Posted at 12:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, from Nebraska

NBC says it will give viewers a sneak peek at the upcoming fall TV season when it airs “The NBC Primetime Preview” on several of its broadcast and online platforms Aug. 30 through Sept. 28.

The 30-minute show, hosted by “Chuck” star Zachary Levi, will be offered to NBC's 232 TV stations; cable networks USA, SCI FI, Bravo, UniHD, Chiller, mun2, MSNBC, CNBC, Oxygen, Sleuth, NBC2Go; on-demand and broadband, as well as at nbc.com.

I’m not sure how NBC will fit everything into 30 minutes, but the network plans to hit all the new shows, returning shows and interviews with stars.

NBC said in its release that Christian Slater of “My Own Worst Enemy,” and Molly Shannon and Selma Blair of “Kath & Kim,” will appear on the special, as well as cast members from “Heroes,” “The Office” and other returning series.

I guess the special truly will be just a peek. The network plans to show viewers behind-the-scenes footage from new shows such as “My Own Worst Enemy,” “Kath & Kim,” ”Crusoe,” “Knight Rider” and “America's Toughest Jobs.” The special will focus on returning series as well, NBC says, particularly “Heroes,” “Sunday Night Football,” “Lipstick Jungle,” “Chuck,” “Life,” “My Name Is Earl,” “30 Rock” and “The Office.”

All I can say is good luck packing all that into a half-hour program.
