About this blog
Livin' the green life isn't easy--especially when you're like me, Supriya Doshi, living in the city without a lot of money, space or time. But that doesn't mean it's impossible. Practically Green chronicles my adventures, trials and tribulations as I try to lead an eco-friendly existence in Chicago. And, hopefully you'll pick up a few tips and tricks along the way, too, that will green up your life without cramping your style.

The Little Green People Show

I know that podcasts are very in right now. They're an easy way to get information or hear commentary in a radio-like way, but on your own time.

But, for some reason, I'm not really a podcast person--except for when it comes to this one: The Little Green People Show. It's put on by the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and it talks about everything from school lunches to green fashion. Their tagline: "Sound advice on green living in the big city."

Hosts Laurene von Klan and Jill Riddell know what they're talking about, but don't expect any preaching from them! They offer sound advice, and often host other experts in the fields they're talking about to give you well-rounded, comprehensive information. And they've got a blog too!

So, if you've got a minute, download a podcast and tune in! It would be the perfect way to distract yourself while on the treadmill or CTA ...

Loved the Little Green People podcast episode that had the one-pot community meal suggestion & Big Girl PJ Party. Looking forward to trolling through the rest. Any suggestions for other local podcasts??

Want to make a difference this holiday season? Interested in re-gifting? Do you have a pile of gifts that didn't make the grade? Examples may include fruitcake, soap-on-a-rope, coffee table books, footed pajamas, neckties and cologne. Leave it for Love is an innovative gift recycling program in which your unwanted treasures are collected and donated to less fortunate older adults all year long. We accept any unused items including gifts, toiletries, toys, and non-perishable food. This program is good for the environment, easy on the pocket book and great for the spirit! A drop off center is available in the city at Ritchie Court Cleaners at 1313 N. Ritchie Court and several new drop off locations are now available in the south suburbs For more information please visit www.leaveitforlove.org or call 312-804-0496.
