About this blog
Growing up three doors apart in the sleepy suburbs of Chicago, Matt Lynch and Ryan Pedersen could agree on many things. Baseball was not one of them. Matt is a Cubs fan, Ryan is a White Sox fan. Despite this seemingly insurmountable obstacle, their friendship has endured. Now roommates in a Wrigleyville apartment, they are joining forces to bring you two fans' respective takes on the Cubs, White Sox, and all things baseball.

I was not expecting this.

No one was. I happened to be at work, where the NBA lottery was on TV (one of the benefits of working in a sports section is that having sports on while working is not even remotely frowned upon) otherwise I probably would not even have been watching.

When they moved past nine and it was clear the Bulls were moving up, the newsroom let out a whoop. Page one was turned upside down. It's a good thing the Bulls didn't make an ill-fated run to the eighth seed in the playoffs. Having the top pick is much better than being stomped on by the Celtics, methinks.

There will be plenty of time to debate Derrick Rose vs. Michael Beasley and discuss all the delicious trade possibilities (sigh, where are you Sam Smith), but this is, after all, a baseball blog.

So what does this mean for the Cubs and/or White Sox?
