Software update informs me that 10.5.4 is out and available for download.
Here's the info directly from Apple's site: There's lots of stuff, and, perhaps most importantly, 10.5.4 is required for Mobile Me when it finally is released.
What's included?
The 10.5.4 Update is recommended for all users running Mac OS X Leopard and includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability, compatibility and security of your Mac.
General
--Includes recent Apple security updates.
-- Resolves an issue with saving and reopening Adobe Creative Suite 3 files on a remote server.
-- Includes additional RAW image support for several cameras.
-- Addresses an issue that may result in a partially installed X11 application.
-- Improves L2TP VPN client reliability.
AirPort
--Addresses AirPort reliability issues with 5GHz networks.
--Addresses AirPort issues that may result in slower performance in Logic Studio or MainStage.
iCal
-- Improves overall iCal reliability for meeting requests, cancellation notices, delegation, and syncing with iPhone.
-- Resolves an issue that prevents deleting an iCal event without notifying the creator.
-- Addresses an issue in which events in all calendars affect availability. A checkbox now enables information-only calendars to be transparent from free/busy lookups.
-- Resolves a UI issue preventing delegated calendars from showing up as a separate window.
-- Addresses an issue with copying and pasting attendees from one event to another.
-- Resolves an issue in which iCal may not delete events after a specified time interval, even when set to do so in iCal preferences.
-- Addresses an issue in which To Dos cannot be marked private.
Safari
-- Addresses a potential performance issue when loading secure web pages.
-- Resolves issues that may be encountered when accessing secure web pages with client certificates that reside on a smart card.
Spaces and Exposé
-- Addresses an issue in which switching from a space with a Finder window keeps the Finder as the active application instead of the application residing in the destination space.
-- Fixes an issue in which dragging an application from the list of application assignments in Spaces System Preferences does not assign the application to the desired space.
-- Resolves an Exposé issue that may result in only a subset of windows being shown.
Let me know if you upgrade how it goes and what kinds of changes you see.
Thanks for calling.

Hmmmm.....what about Tiger? No updates needed? Meanwhile, when I sync my Address book STILL doesn't update correctly (has 2 less contacts) and leaves out a lot of phone numbers. You can no longer reset sync in iSync instead of System Prefs-you must do it in System Prefs. Come on Apple-.Mac is great, but get on the ball!
(p.s. I'm going to miss my bookmarks)
SCOTT'S REPLY: Assuming that you can use Tiger for Mobile Me, I'm sure you need to have the latest 10.4.11, but I'm not sure that Tiger works for Mobile Me. It's a good question.
Posted by: Eleanor | Jun 30, 2008 8:52:47 PMI did the update to tow of my 10.5.3 machines. one an iBookG4 and the other a Core two duo. backed up both using time machine and downloaded the upgrade. no problem at all. nothing really obvious except that when I opened my iCal for the first time it said that I had to wait while it did something to the calendars. so far so good. haven't used .mac sync yet

SCOTT'S REPLY: Keep us posted, Neil, as you start to do more with it, ok?
Posted by: Neil | Jul 1, 2008 9:13:29 AMWe knew that for the iPhone, there would have to be 3 updates:
- iPhone 2.0 (duhhh)
- MobileMe
- MacOS X (for the new technologies in MobileMe
Well, yesterday was step one. I have a feeling (based on nothing more than that) that we will see MobileMe either today or next Tuesday (Apple loves to release stuff that aren't iPhones on Tuesdays).
Scott, I agree with your assessment that releasing iPhone 2.0 before July 11 might curb people from buying the new phone. MobileMe on the other hand actually increases the likelihood of purchase.
We'll see. I just love to guess... :-)
SCOTT"S REPLY: Ahhh, yes, John ... guessing is a part of every Apple fan's life :-D
