During Adobe's second quarter earnings call on Monday, Shantanu Narayen, Adobe's president and CEO answered a number of questions, including one from Ross MacMillan of Jeffries & Company regarding Flash on the iPhone.
Here was the exchange:
MACMILLAN: And then just to follow-up was on the Apple iPhone 3G -- any update on Flash support within that device? Thanks.
NARAYEN: With respect to the iPhone, we are working on it. We have a version that’s working on the emulation. This is still on the computer and you know, we have to continue to move it from a test environment onto the device and continue to make it work. So we are pleased with the internal progress that we’ve made to date.
So there you have it ... for what it's worth. It's apparently still being worked on. Doesn't really feel like we have any indication of when, just that the project isn't abandoned and that progress is supposedly being made.
Hopefully. It has to be. Big blue question marks on a 3G iPhone are not going to make me happy.
Thanks for calling.

OT, but pertinent:
I'm not understanding the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the lack of a camera upgrade. Scott, you had one of the 1st iPhone photo galleries on the net, and that pic of Mt. Ranier (still featured) is absolutely stunning!
Even if I do say so myself...
SCOTT'S REPLY: LOL, Greg. It's a great, great photo.
I think people are always looking for an upgrade, and perhaps it's not the quality of the camera so much as features ... just a few photobooth style features from the Mac or something could make a difference. Sometimes, just showing a little improvement, albeit small, makes a big, big difference.
Posted by: Greg | Jun 17, 2008 11:46:48 AMGive me copy and paste now and Flash as a software update sooner than later and I'll become a 2nd gen adopter of the phone in a heartbeat! Here's a link to an article that gives people another reason besides the coffee shops to go to Amsterdam: :-) Great city. Also just read that United is the 1st carrier to allow you to plug your iPhone or iPod into their system and watch movies/videos on their 15" screens etc. or listen to music. Charges the devices at the same time they said.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Heard that too about United, that it's starting in business and first class and making its way down the line. Good, good thing, considering they are charging to check baggage.
Posted by: Brad | Jun 17, 2008 12:02:55 PMI see somebody's trying real hard to be part of the iPhone revolution. Maybe they should improve their Mac apps first before polishing Steve's boots & begging for a ticket in.
Like someone who's begging real hard to go to a party they're not invited to. Pathetic.
SCOTT'S REPLY: Or ... maybe they should have made sure they weren't so late to the party. They should have had this perfected the day Steve launched the iPhone -- not even the day it went on sale -- the launch.
Posted by: MacSheikh | Jun 17, 2008 12:27:31 PMI don't think you're being fair with adobe. its apple's fault that flash isnt on the iPhone they don't like it and they want adobe to bend over backwards before they get it on the iphone. if apple wanted to have flash on the iPhone they would have worked together with adobe the same way they made google go through all the trouble of converting the entire youtube library.
SCOTT'S REPLY: You know what, iName? Point taken. That's a very good point. Thanks for posting.
