iPhone numbers we love to see
Friday, May 16, 2008 -- 4:05 p.m. -- on my couch
Some numbers according to Piper Jaffray's Gene Munster that are quite compelling:
6: Number of countries where iPhone currently available
153 milliion:Total number of possible subscribers in those countries
42:Number of countries where iPhone should soon be available including all recent agreements/announcements
575 million:Total number of possible subscribers in those 42 countries
Wow.
Thanks for calling.

$1,000,000: What i'm gonna feel like when i get my hands on my very own iPhone! :-)
SCOTT'S REPLY: Yep. That number is accurate. I've checked :-D
Posted by: MacSheikh | May 17, 2008 5:38:17 AMi just did something stupid and I thought you and your readers might enjoy it. I was goofing off on my couch (!) with my iPhone and somehow managed to lock myself out of my sim card. After messing around I finally got a RED message saying see my carrier for a PUK. Well, I did so and it was so screwed up I had to get a new SIM card. I resynced and got back everything. I was worried ab out my Notes because I have 51 of them with much data and numbers. It was all restored, along with my 5 iPhone icon pages.
Man, sweet! I cannot overstate the value of backing up with iTunes.
SCOTT'S REPLY: WOW! This is very good to know. Can you say how you ended up locking yourself out? I mean, is this something that we wouldn't normally do?
And yeah ... backing up is always, always very important.
Posted by: David Owens | May 18, 2008 4:39:35 PMive locked my sim before also. under settings then phone there is an option that says SIM PIN. what this does is each time you turn the phone on it will lock the sim and ask you for the pin to unlock it. The standard pin for att is 1111 which you can find on apples website iphone support page. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1316)
If you enter the pin incorrect 3 times, your sim will lock and you will have 10 chances to enter your PUK code, which to find you have to call att. If you get your PUK code wrong 10 times, your sim will perminatly lock and will be unusable. If this happens you must go into an att store and buy a new sim ($25) and they will re-activate your phone. to make a long story short, just use a passcode, and not the sim lock, or just remove your sim if you really dont want calls being made on the phone. hope this helps!
SCOTT'S REPLY: Sounds like someone who knows. Thanks, Jake!
