Thursday, May 29, 2008 -- 11:06 a.m. -- on my couch
I was reading about the new agreements for iPhone operation in Macau and Hong Kong this morning and I got to thinking ... Wow! Now that's more bars in more places (not all AT&T, but you get my drift).
So I put together a list as per recent announcements along with the carrier(s) that are expected to be involved. Remember, nothing is final until Steve says it's final, but this is certainly likely.
Can anyone say world domination?
Feel free to share this list with anyone you want.
And let's discuss the iPhone's future around the world in the comments ... will Apple offer phone cards for discounted rates between countries? What can we expect as we all start to communicate in ways we never dreamed possible?
Thanks for calling.

wouldn't it be great if Apple took on the provider business so that phone service would be included ALL in one service area w/o roaming??? That way we could go to ANY of the above places and call anywhere in the area????
woohooo!!
Neil
SCOTT'S REPLY: Indeed, it would be great, but I'm pretty sure Apple doesn't want to be involved with that side of the business -- too much to deal with.
Posted by: neil | May 29, 2008 3:12:10 PMthey're using them here in Prague even thou they're not licensed yet. Concierge pulled one out when I was trying to figure out how to log on to Wi-Fi.
SCOTT'S REPLY: Every country wants one now ... it's just an amazing thing to see/hear.
Posted by: Brad | May 29, 2008 3:44:52 PMI suspect that growth/adoption of the iPhone is underestimated, due to the mobile "computer" effect.
The fact that people "will" get familiar with their mobile phones will lead many to realize that they can/will now have access to a powerful computer, and don't have to rely on a more expensive (and immobile) desktop for web browsing/photo/email/IM features that formerly required a desktop.
Useability, mobility and less cost will drive adoption of the iPhone-as-computer, not just a mobile phone.
SCOTT'S REPLY: I agree 100 percent with that!
Posted by: hardmanb | May 29, 2008 8:38:52 PMAt first I thought this was a story on the United Nations!
SCOTT'S REPLY: No, but maybe the iPhone should be the official phone of the UN!

100% correct. "The iPhone Effect" has proven to be unimaginable.
SCOTT'S REPLY: 100% correct is 100% correct :-D
