Check out this patent filed by Apple.
Here's the synopsis from the patent site: With respect to a wireless network, an out of range warning provides an estimate of an amount of time remaining until a wireless device is out of range of the wireless network. In this way, the user is presented with an opportunity to take corrective measures, if desired.
Fascinating.
Could this be the end to ... I'm losing you!! Hello? You're breaking up! And the beginning of ... listen, Uncle Leo, I'm losing edge in 14 seconds, gotta go, say hi to Cousin Jeffrey, bye? Maybe. Just maybe.
It's long and technical, but the entire patent app is here if you want to check it out.
Let me know what you think in the comments? Cool? Or not cool?
Thanks for calling.

Unfortunately, it may also mean i won't be able to pretend i can't hear the other party ('cos the cellphone signal "suddenly" dropped) when i want to cut the conversation short! :-)
SCOTT'S REPLY: Yeah, it may mean that indeed!

I use NetNewsWire to scan through all the sites i subscribe. It didn't use to look this way, but now when i look through your posts, your day/date/time/location is no longer separated from the rest of your post. Like this:

Not sure if any of your other readers are seeing this but just thought you'd like to know. :-)
SCOTT'S REPLY: Definitely! Is it like that for all posts? That's so weird because there's clearly a break between the lines. Did you just see that happening?? Thanks for letting me know.
Posted by: MacSheikh | May 29, 2008 9:59:49 PMThe oldest post i have in NetNewsWire from your site is from 21st May, the one about Napster. And yeah, it happens for all your posts since then at least. The other sites i subscribe to seem ok as usual.
Hope it helps.
SCOTT'S REPLY: Seems as though I have this ongoing RSS problem. Thank you so much for letting me know. I have passed it along to the Web folks and I'll keep you posted on what I find out.
