Apple has updated its knowledgebase document on using your iPhone (and iPod touch) with your TV, including which cables and docks work with which model.
As I'm about to go to the laundry room in my apartment building armed with a bunch of podcasts and R.E.M.'s new album, I'm never at a loss for words when I look at my crisp iPhone screen.
But at the same time, it's worth remembering how much more you can do with your iPhone and the right dock when it comes to entertaining more than one person on the big screen.
So if you aren't familiar with all the ways you can use your iPhone in TV out mode, this is a great guide.
Thanks for calling.

The downside is that the composite cable and the dock will set you back $100 - at that point, you should just consider getting an Apple TV.
SCOTT'S REPLY: Quite true, however, I believe an Apple TV only works if you have a widescreen TV. That doesn't work for everyone -- at least not yet.
Posted by: Nick | Apr 13, 2008 5:52:20 AMWhilst we are on the subject of cables and connections I thought I'd share my experience of travelling with the iPhone.
Before I had an iPhone I used to take the following with me:
- camera
- camera battery charger
- camera connector to my Mac
- mobile phone
- mobile phone charger
- iPod
- iPod charger and/or connector
- MacBook
Now that I have an iPhone and made the decision to rely only on the iPhone for photos, I only had to take the following on holiday:
- iPhone
- iPhone connector
- MacBook
That's it! Nothing else is required and I had a phone, camera and iPod all in the one device (not forgetting all the other great things the iPhone can do). The camera has amazed everyone with the quality of pictures, although I am limited to day time pictures only without a flash.
It's brilliant to only have to carry one device and not have a suitcase full of chargers and connectors.
SCOTT'S REPLY: And when we all talk about the limitations that the iPhone has, this is the kind of comment we need to remember ... it's the convergence of devices and the simplicity that makes the iPhone as cool as it is. Now, I think it's a matter of making all of that stronger and better. Thanks for sharing, Kim.

SCOTT'S REPLY: No problem at all, Kay.
Posted by: kay | Apr 13, 2008 1:22:32 PMUse iPhone, Touch or Nano with Vuzix's new iWear and take a huge 62" virtual screen with you everywhere!
Great invention and a breakthrough from tiny screen video glasses ok the market to date.
SCOTT'S REPLY: I have never had the chance to try one of these, but I'm at least slightly intrigued.
