Sign the iPhone Canada petition

Sunday, March 30, 2008 -- 12:05 a.m. -- on my couch

CanmapA headache is keeping my posts a little short today, but luckily short and also mean sweet.

2 Canadian iPhone sites have teamed up to create the Great Canadian iPhone Petition.

Here's a link if you would like to sign it.

Hopefully the sites will get together and send it along to Apple and to Rogers, but there's one thing they should be aware of ... no petition is going to get the iPhone to Canada. Both countries are quite aware how much people want it. We're way beyond petition stage. But still doesn't mean you shouldn't sign it.

Thanks for calling.

I am getting so tired of these blogs that aren't even coherent enough to read or make sense of. Please, if you are going to post some crap about the iphone at least make it worth the people's attention, rather than trying to get another hit to your site.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Which blog are you referring to, Shay? Was there something confusing in my post or elsewhere?

A more appropriate poll would be: How many would like to see some real competition with reasonable rates in Canada?

SCOTT'S REPLY: Certainly sounds that way ... but I'm sure the folks behind the poll are concentrating on getting it first and then narrowing it down. But you are right ... that's quite important.

one night, often raspberries, that day. and climb were the best,

SCOTT'S REPLY: Ok, then.

Petitions will go nowhere. Rogers just spend a TON of money on their 3G network. The last thing they want to do is roll out a massively popular EDGE phone. My money is on Rogers waiting for the 3G iPhone before bringing it up here.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Interesting. You are the second person who has mentioned Rogers big investment in 3G. Perhaps you are right.

so what website do i go to to sign up for the Iphone 3G? bestbuy.ca? cant i just buy the new Iphone THEN get a plan with rogers or at&t? cuz if not i have to pay a 1000$ security deposit then get the contract(with telus anyway in the blackberry pearl case)cuz of bad credit....?? guess no one on this site wud know cuz its not out till july 11th..but still i wanna kno NOW!!

SCOTT"S REPLY: That's a question for Rogers. I would think you need to go to Rogers Web site or Apple Canada for that info -- the phone will be sold at stores only, not online.

Ted Rogers and his cable company were despised when they overcharged us in the west several years ago - and we ran him out of the west then. How soon we forget that this guy is a gouger without consience. Now he is doing the same thing again, only this time it is wireless. What do you expect from Rogers?

I know the link is Italian but it's very easy to understand what the meaning of few words are..... This links shows the prices for data plans and voice plans around the world. RIDICULOUS.

SCOTT's REPLY: definitely more ridiculous in some places than others.
