Monday, December 10, 2007 -- 3:21 p.m. -- at my desk
Not sure if you've all seen this, but this is the poster that some of the lucky attendees received at Apple's New York City retail grand opening on Friday.
The new store, on West 14th Street in the heart of Chelsea, is almost Apple's biggest in terms of square footage. The winning store is actually my store right here on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago.
In addition to shirts -- which, by the way, were the coolest shirts ever with the logo for the store created in NYC subway symbols, these posters are the talk of the town and eBay, where they are selling for upwards of $40 or $50.
Take a look at it. Can you tell what it is?
Think about it ... answer coming in 3 ... 2.,.. 1.....
It's the island of Manhattan, in Google Maps, either on a whole bunch of iPhones or iPod Touches. Either way, it's very, very cool and if i had a place to put said poster, I would bid on one today.
As for the shirt, yeah, I really want one of those.
Anyone got one of these? Anyone at the grand opening? Please share your stories with us.
Thanks for calling.
