I've complained a lot about the iPhone's battery in the past -- both the actual charge it holds and the icon.

I'm happy to report that after extensive testing since last month's upgrade to 1.1.2, both have been much improved.

With bluetooth and Wi-Fi off, I've hit more than 5 days of stand-by time ... and the battery wasn't spent, but I wanted to make sure I charged it before heading to the office. Now that I have a charger there as well, next time I may just let it go all the way and see the final tally.

Even with Wi-Fi on, it lasts much longer.

I find that the battery loses power fastest when bluetooth is on or when a video is playing. The video I expect, but I never realized what a power hog bluetooth is. Of course, it's always a good idea to keep bluetooth and Wi-Fi off when they aren't in use.

So here's hoping that it stays the same or gets better in 1.1.3. Unfortunately, problems that are fixed in one software update can actually reappear down the road. The most famous example of this is that annoying echo. It was completely gone in 1.0.2 only to reappear in 1.1.1 and 1.1.2.

Bugs are to be expected ... this is version 1.0 of the iPhone. Some people choose to wait until the 2nd or 3rd or even 4th revision of Apple products to make sure all the bugs are worked out, and even then there are no guarantees.

as far as I am concerned, the battery in mine is fine. It lasts MUCH longer than my extended battery that i had in my Treo even if I leave wi-fi on and bluetooth on all day.

as for the echo. I think you are right. IT seems to be in certain areas and not others. I have had no complaints from anyone that I call and I live near Philly.

so far I am really pleased. Still, looking for an upgrade to add features and make things nice and smooth.

Well we are all waiting for a Update, and not just a stupid update.
Apple has left us consumers alone, while they are working on there new iPhone.
I was a big apple lover, but in my eyes they stink.

People are demanding updates, but still nothing. You should all check there forum, or even better Apple should.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Jesper, can't argue that it's been a slow start -- I agree that there should be more by now -- but I'm not ready to be disappointed. Not with all the stuff that's bound to come soon.
