1.1.1 bugs!

Sunday, October 14, 2007 -- 12:19 a.m. -- on my couch

Mosquito***UPDATE: Looks like you are all right ... the echoing problem is back. The people who have told me that it was there and then went away are all telling me it's back. My dad put it best ... "I can hold a conversation with you, but it's there."**

I've noticed my iPhone doing some weird things since I upgraded to 1.1.1

While all the focus has been on 1.1.1 disabling the 1.0.2 jailbreak, little focus has been placed on what 1.1.1 has done to other phones.

While the main purpose was the iTunes Wi-Fi store, there are definitely bugs that were introduced with this version. My phone was 100 percent bug free with 1.0.2 and now it's not exactly so.

My two big problems?

1. Sometimes my screen doesn't respond to my touch. Rebooting fixes it.

2. Sometimes, without any warning, my iPod starts to play when I'm nowhere near the iPod screens. All of a sudden I see the little play symbol in the upper right.

So Apple ... I anxiously await 1.1.2 with more much-needed features and bug fixes.

I have a similar problem since the upgrade. I will be in the Ipod feature then all of a sudden without any warning. I'm kicked out to the main screen and my music is Now done playing. I'm still trying to figure out why they said they upgraded the sound???? Because the ear buds don't go loud enough to me. And don't even get me started on all the add ons that are meant to be used with the ipod but don't work with the iphone (exp-bose sound dock, Ipod connection in the car and so on). and The earpiece on the Phone still isn't all that great to me. Although this is AT&T I feel like I'm on Verizon, Because I'm always asking "can you hear me now, good because I cant hear you" So come on apple get with the program voyager is coming for ya.....

SCOTT'S REPLY: Some of the things are leftovers from the 1.0.1/1.0.2 days. What you describe could be that. But then again, these things were dormant for some until now. Frustrating across the board.

I have the same problem after the 1.1.1 update. I think the little triangle just stays on after leaving the iPod and it stays on after leaving any Qick Time movie from safari or after leaving YouTube.

As for the battery drain issue I just bought a new Apple extreme base station and I now get much better signal strength from my old gray base station, yeah it lasted a long time, but now my iPhone battery is discharging much faster?

SCOTT'S REPLY: Well, Tom, I just updated the original post. Turns out, the echoing is back for me too. I was so happy when it went away and now to have it back is really, really annoying.

The play triangle might stay on in that case, but for me I'm not doing any of that, so that's where the confusion is.

I don't know that your base station would have anything to do with the battery draining faster. Wi-Fi in general is a drain because the phone is working harder on the network.

The only thing that I have noticed is that when I am deleting emails by using the "Edit" button to make the word "delete" appear from the right side of the screen I also see a duplicate red selector button flash momentarily below the current email even though there are no emails below the one I am deleting. Very strange and it was never there before 1.1.1.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Hmmmm, I have not seen that. Has anyone else?

I've also noticed the play button when not playing any music. The thing that REALLY bugs me is that sometimes without warning my safari browser will shut down and I have to reopen it.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Thanks for the comment, John. You are the first person to back me on the play button thing. As for the safari shutdown, well, that's been there since day 1 unfortunately. Can be anything from an overworked Safari to a bad bookmark. Or so Apple says. I think it's a bug in the firmware/software and blaming it on bookmarks is a convenient excuse.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Crazy, isn't it? And stupid.
