AppMarks
Monday, July 16, 2007 • 6:30 p.m.
First there were bookmarks
Now there are AppMarks.
And only the latter is the easy route to RedEye on your iPhone.
You take RedEye everywhere, and now it's the first Chicago newspaper that's a click away on your iPhone.
To the right in the rail is a black button that reads "+AppMark it." When you click it, you'll be redirected to a site called AppMarks that allows you to customize categories on your iPhone.
Then here's what you will see: Click the photo for a bigger view, but the RedEye logo you know and love appears in the lower left corner along with other big names like Yahoo!.
From here, the categories are customizable. But now, RedEye's just a tap away.
If you put RedEye on your iPhone, please let me and everyone know.
And while you're at it, check out the AppMarks site at www.appmarks.com
Thanks for calling.

Hey- I'm enjoying your postings about the iPhone. I didn't think I'd get one when they first came out- figured I'd wait until the second generation or so. But, I watched the demo just to see what all the fuss was about. As soon as the demo ended, I got in the car and drove to an AT&T store here in Austin and got one. I love it. Those guys at Apple are geniuses. I was already a big Apple fan so it wasn't as much a conversion as a "born again" experience. (I think the religious metaphor works very well when discussing Apple products) That's it from Austin-
SCOTT'S REPLY: Thanks, Vivian. You may be my first long distance caller! AppMark me if you haven't already because I'm just getting started.

Scott - have to tell you - your blog is fantastic! But then you probably knew that. You led me to Appmarks, and thus to the grocery list program which has earned me big points for my wife. I was already on the right track when after using my iphone for an hour I ran out and got her one! Now her sister (a twin no less) is about to run out and get one - the grocery list program did it. She loves the fact that she can email the list to her husband when she is out of town on business.
Thanks for helping to build this new community.

SCOTT'S REPLY: Dennis, I'm thrilled to hear you are happy with the blog. Your comment pretty much sums up why I started this in the first place ... it's a different approach to the iPhone blog.
Stick around. I'm hoping we get bigger and better and it's people like you that are going to make it possible.
Posted by: Dennis Graf | Jul 27, 2007 9:57:02 AMok, I'm there, pretty slick. Doesn't even look like a web page.
Really makes me wonder how long it will be until we can change the first screen/welcome screen/app screen on the iPhone, though.
What is that first screen called, anyway?

SCOTT'S REPLY: I know! That's what I love. It's like the first screen recreated. I'm amazed by those with the programming knowledge needed to pull this kind of thing off.
Callers, we have an excellent question from Bill ... what is the first screen called. Truth be told, I call it the first screen. :-D
There's probably something a little more enticing for the world's most enticing phone. Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe we can narrow it down and I"ll send along the best suggestions to Apple ... I highly doubt they have an official name for it. Wouldn't it be awesome if iPhone, Therefore I Blog callers named the iPhone's main screen? Anything's possible.
Posted by: Bill | Aug 1, 2007 3:49:51 PMummmmm...home screen?
SCOTT'S REPLY: Certainly acceptable. Here's some trivia ... did you know that Apple's official name for the home screen is the Springboard?
