Top Ten Female Characters Fanboys Would Love To Date
Posted at 7:00 a.m. - Monday, August 25
Fanboys are often criticized for their lack of social skills when it comes to - ahem - the opposite sex. There are those who blame this on the fixation we have (yeah, I said 'we' cuz I'm a fanboy too) on the female characters we see in our fave comics, movies and television shows.
Don't short-change these gals, though, as they are some of the most compelling characters in geek-fiction.
While we'll admit that these women have been the source of more than a fantasy or two, fanboys (and some fangirls) should consider what it would be like to actually date any of these fantastic femmes of fiction...
No. 10 - ROSE TYLER (Doctor Who)
She's loyal, determined and courageous. She's oft times bubbly, enthusiastic, and yeah, easy on the eyes. She's also been from one end of the universe to the other and has helped save the Earth numerous times.
She'd be a great gal to take out for dinner and some nice conversation, but expect her to go on and on about the guy she used to hang out with.
No. 9 - FAITH (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
She's aggressive, speaks her mind and won't put up with much.
She also has a track record of kicking guys to the curb (poor Xander Harris) so don't get too clingy and things will be 'five by five.'
No. 8 - SIX (Battlestar Galactica)
Many a sci-fi geek swallowed their gum when they first laid eyes on the sensuous Cylon seductress.
Who wouldn't want to show up at the 'cool kids' party with her on their arm? And so what if her spine glows in the dark when you're doing the horizontal mambo.
On the other hand, being seduced by her may result with you helping her wipe out your entire species.
No. 7 - SEVEN OF NINE (Star Trek Voyager)
Before there was Six, there was Seven of Nine.
This Borg hottie made the impersonal, hive-mind villains of Star Trek desirable, causing many a Trekkie to exclaim 'she can assimilate me anytime!'
Just don't marry her and then try to run for the United States Senate.
No. 6 - SUPERGIRL (DC Comics)
If Superman is the ideal man, Kara Zor-El is the ideal woman and would make the perfect girlfriend.
Break her heart, though, and you may have to deal with her super-powered cousin.
Then again, she's so sweet and innocent, some fanboys may opt for...
No. 5 - POWER GIRL (DC Comics)
She's the Supergirl of an alternate universe with one significant difference.
(And I don't mean that her name is Kara Zor-L as opposed to 'Zor-El'.) OK, make it TWO 'significant differences.'
And if you can't keep some eye contact because of them, she'll clock you!
No. 4 - PRINCESS LEIA (Star Wars)
Pro: She drives space pirates bonkers and causes siblings to think incestuous thoughts. She's got spirit and can hold her own in a blaster fight.
She even looks pretty hot in a metal bikini.
Con: She's not above making snarky comments about your height and criticizing your escape plan, even though you've marched into the Death Star detention center to rescue her.
No. 3 - AGENT SCULLY (The X-Files)
Agent Dana Skully (X-Files) She's a bad-ass FBI Agent with brains and a smart sense of fashion. She can even run in high heels!
She'll never believe any of your crackpot theories even though you were proven to be right just the week before!
No. 2 - MYSTIQUE (Marvel Comics)
Mutant shape-shifter and enemy of the X-Men, Mystique has a sordid past which makes her a very bad girl.
Oh yeah, a very, very bad girl.
Hm. Coupled with her ability to become anyone on this list, why don't I have her as #1?
Well, that's because the #1 Female Character That Fanboys Would Love To Date is...
No. 1 - BARBARELLA
She's the Original Sci-Fi Sex Symbol! She helped a whole generation of geeks through puberty - and jump started a few to boot.
Her - um - 'appetite' may be more than most fanboys could handle, though. She once short-circuited a machine that was designed to 'torture her with pleasure' and was begging for more.
Put her in the 'Be Careful What You Ask For' Category...
That's MY list, what's yours?

I think you got the list pretty right on. I would have changed the order a bit though. Seven of Nine should diffently be numero uno.
Posted by: myron elliott | Aug 27, 2008 11:43:48 AMThanks for the comment! Seven of Nine is on the top of many lists, for sure. (Although probably not on Jim Ryan's list.) I'm kinda partial to Rose myself. And Mystique can be just about anyone on the list too! Was there someone I missed?

Posted by: Elliott | Aug 27, 2008 9:06:23 PMWhat about the original Rogue from the x-men comics? Sure, kissing her would put you in a coma, doing it with her would kill you, but wouldn't it be worth it?
Posted by: Josh | Aug 30, 2008 5:59:51 PMHm. Well, a body condom would take care of that wouldn't it? ;-)
Then again, I'm not sure sex with Rogue's worth DYING over, although I'm sure some will disagree.

Posted by: Elliott | Aug 30, 2008 9:05:16 PMWell, I'm not a fanboy, but fangirls would probably like a whole different cast of characters, eh? I've gotta admit that Scully and Faith are definitely on my list, but that's it from above.
My shortlist in no particular order: Firestar, Jean Grey (redheads do it for me every time), Piper Halliwell (Charmed), Cheetara (Thunder Cats), Buffy, Jadzia Dax (DS9), Trinity (Matrix) and Xena.
