Lately, it seems like the CTA is more into extensions than Lil' Kim and Paris Hilton combined. The transit agency held a public hearing on a potential Orange Line stretch from Midway to Ford City Mall earlier this week. Now, there's a public meeting on adding on to the Yellow Line to stretch it to Old Orchard Mall.
Want to go sound off? Have at it, but these meetings are -- as CTA spy Double-Oh-Fo' wisely pointed out-- inconvenient for those who work a J-O-B...
Here are the deets on the meet: Tuesday, Aug. 26 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at National Louis University, North Shore Campus at Skokie-3rd Floor at 5202 Old Orchard Road in Skokie, IL.

I thought the CTA was on a tight budget, always threatening to raise fares. Yet they would somehow have money for extra projects like this before they fix up deteriorating train stations and tracks and spend money on all the broken down buses we see every day.

Totally different sources of funds, and fares have nothing to do with extensions.
Posted by: Rider | Aug 26, 2008 12:33:05 PMIn regards to the possible Yellow Line Extension, let me add, MY TWO CENTS WORTH. 45 years ago, we lost, A CLEAN, EFFICIENT, AND FAST MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, between Chicago and Milwaukee, in the form of the old North Shore Line. Due to these so called "transportation experts," the North Shore died, ON A BITTER JANUARY DAY, in 1963, and the current Yellow Liine, currently runs over part of the old right of way. It's a shame, that those same "experts," didn't have the foresight to save, not only the North Shore Line, BUT THE CHICAGO AURORA & ELGIN, as well. Thanks for allowing me, to "air myself out," about this matter.
