    Lolla back about the CTA

    Posted Aug. 4 at 12:30 p.m.

From all accounts, I'm hearing that Lollapalooza was the business.  Translation: it went very well with high attendance and low criminal activity.  Wish I could have been there at least to catch Kanye West, Radiohead or Rage, but I stayed on the South Side this weekend for the most part.

So, clue me in.  How did the CTA fare on this busy weekend with tens of thousands of fans converging on Grant Park.  I received an e-mail from a bloke who sent me this funny sentence:

"CTA should come up more creative ways to maneuver around a lot of Lollapfoolslooz."

Guess we know what he thought.  Now, I'd love to hear from others who were attending or just trying to avoid the fest that some see as a pest.

I worked Saturday but the Palooooooza didn't really bother me. I left home 20 minutes sooner than usual and arrived to work on time.

Although on my way home to have my after work festivities going I ran into a crowded platform with Paloozas people & some of them acted as though they were lost....which way is.....how much is.....do you have......is this the Redline??? All of my answers were brief, there is the attendant here for your questions because I don't want to get you more lost than you already are.

****Hey CTA if CPD stepped up patrols then you should step up more help, especially downtown. Signs only help those who read em.

    Truthfully,

    April

The trains and buses were running great for this weekend. I almost didn't know how to feel with extra train cars and things running on schedule.

The CTA did a fairly good job this weekend. Didn't go to the festival but had to pass through downtown several times. Crowding was kept to a minimum with the extra train cars and there weren't any major construction-related delays. It would be great if longer trains were the norm every weekend. Buses seemed to be running on regular intervals but were sometimes packed.

Metra was the agency that really dropped the ball... I don't know if it was related to Lollapalooza but trains were canceled during the Friday rush and trains were running 10-20 minutes behind schedule all weekend.

Drivers should STOP trying to pick every women that boards the bus UP! I am so tired of having drivers HIT on me, I'm going to start taking badge numbers down and report them as straight harrassment. It used to be flattering now it's an out right insult it happens almost daily! One can't even engage in light conversation they're ready to take your number down - as IF! One bus driver told me if a women sits at the front of the bus across from the driver, right away it's a sign she's looking to get picked up. HOW REDICULOUS is that!
