    CTA shutdown?

Posted by Jim Walsh 12:09 a.m., Dec. 14

If this CTA shutdown actually takes place on Sunday night, I'm going to be in a heap of trouble because I have no good way of getting to work. It'll be interesting if this "job action" happens, but I don't think it will.

But on the off chance that it does, I can't say I'll be disappointed. Maybe it will finally get lawmakers to pay attention to the serious problem facing regional transit in Chicago.

    What do you think?

If it happens, it happens. If it does, just call in "sick" to work and enjoy the day off. That's what I'll be doing.

I will also not have any way to get to work on Monday if the 24-hour walk-out happens. I take a CTA train (sometimes two) and then a Metra train to get to and from work everyday. Nothing else has been able to get the gridlock in Springfield to break and find a solution, maybe this will. I think it's our best bet at the moment.

I think unions are ruining everything. Seriously, free health care, retire at 55 with full pension. Give me a break. How can you not bankrupt an entity with those rediculous benefits. Unions served a good purpose at one time, now they are just far too greedy, name one company that hasn't been or isn't in serious financial troube due to unions? And don't count teacher or gov't unions because all they do is raise our taxes to cover their needs. They print their own oney. Eventually, that will come crashing down too. Death to all Unions!!!!

I think that this could really happen! What the heck are the people in Springfield thinking about?? I don't understand our government and our city. We have money to put into stupid Parks..... why can't we get this money that is much needed to keep this city up and running.

I agree with the CTA Transit.......government plays to many damn games! MAKES NO SINCE!!!

It's about time for CTA employees to strike. The CTA has held them hostage (by threats of losing their jobs due to "doomsday" reports year after year) long enough. The CTA has also held the people of Chicago (and surrounding suburbs) hostage long enough.
