    Clear Blue Easy?

Posted by Tracy Swartz- 11:20 a.m., July 12

BookcoverI would love to believe the news today that the Blue Line is on the fast track to ditching the slow zones.

I would love to believe that the Blue Line will no longer keep me waiting as it canoodles in other stations. I would love to believe that the Blue Line will focus on riders' needs instead of its own.

I've stuck by the Blue Line for many months now, through the slow and even slower times. I'm still willing to wait until September for the Blue Line to get its act together.

Though we've had our rocky times and missed connections, the Blue Line is the most convenient way for me to ride in Bucktown. I'm just hoping the Blue Line's promises won't go unbroken.

Blue Line riders, have you replaced the line with another? Or do you believe the Blue Line can change?

First change... Drop the #$@!* annoying coloring of text. I think we all know what the color blue looks like. Every mention of the Blue Line doesn't need to be colored.

TRACY'S REPLY: ZING. But did you need five different symbols to represent a curse word? I think we all know fewer could have done the trick.

I ride the blue and orange lines to work each day. I sometimes substitute the #56 Milwaukee bus for the blue line. It seems to be more frequent than the train and not nearly as stressful.

Frankly, the Blue Line is only good for O'Hare to me on my twice weekly jaunts to and from it. What I have replaced it with? A cab. My last attempt to 2.5 hours to get from Brown Line Armitage to O'Hare.

Frankly, I question everything the CTA does these days. I live on the northside and our slow zone is between Jefferson Park and Harlem. There is no mention of correcting this slow zone which has existed for more than a year. Little to no construction has been performed in that time to correct the situation. I cannot believe that a city the size of Chicago has such a poorly run transit system.

Yes--I changed jobs & don't have to take the L anymore (from the NW side). When I have to go downtown or over to the UIC Medical Campus, I take buses.
The L, when it runs properly, would be preferable, so I cross my fingers & hope.
